Obamacare’s Broken Promises Leave Pennsylvanians Looking for Solutions
Healthcare Solutions Week Highlights Genuine Fixes
Last year’s disastrous Obamacare rollout had serious consequences. Here in Pennsylvania, Healthcare.gov glitches withheld care from Sally’s dying sister, a small business in Pittsburgh saw employee premiums double, and Mark, a young adult from Delaware County, couldn’t afford to replace his canceled plan.
Read more about their stories here.
“Too many Pennsylvanians have fallen through the gaps in Obamacare,” commented Elizabeth Stelle, director of policy analysis for the Commonwealth Foundation. “These stories of ordinary Pennsylvanians running up against a bureaucratic nightmare shine a light on how the healthcare system is failing. But lawmakers in Harrisburg and in Washington can learn from these experience and finally make effective healthcare truly affordable.”
The Commonwealth Foundation is one of 20 organizations highlighting real reform during Healthcare Solutions Week, October 13-17.
“Achievable solutions that expand access and protect the needy are within our grasp,” Stelle continued. “Premiums could be more affordable if the government didn’t dictate unnecessary coverage mandates. Further, state lawmakers can ease waiting times and improve the quality of care by encouraging more charity care and giving providers like nurse practitioners the freedom to run their own practices.”
Elizabeth Stelle is available to discuss what kinds of reform Pennsylvanians are looking for from Washington D.C., and Harrisburg.
